Skyros is the largest and southernmost island of the Sporades, and has so far not really touristy and thus maintain its origins.
The capital Skyros town is built on a slope with white cube houses especially in the old town, a maze of small streets.
The island is known for its traditional folk art, ceramics, embroidery and wood furniture with beautiful carvings.
The northern part of the island is very fertile and very green through the forests full of pine. The southern part, however, is very rugged and bare. On the island a little rare breed alive, the Skyraanse pony.
All over the island you come in addition to the many churches also lots of goats and sheep against.
