Noord-Brabant (North-Brabant)
The province North-Brabant (also called Brabant) is located in the south of the Netherlands and is mostly flat. It is bordered to the north by South-Holland, in the east by Gelderland, in the southeast by Limburg, in the south by Belgium and in the west by Zeeland.
The capital city is ‘s Hertogenbosch (also called Den Bosch) and is located fairly centrally in the north of the province and is a maze of medieval alleys. Other highlight of the city is the late-gothic Sint-Jan Cathedral. Eindhoven is the largest city which is located in the south.
The province is both urban and agricultural in character and has a relatively large forest. National Park Loonse en Drunense Duinen is also known as the Brabant Sahara. The province holds a large theme park (Efteling) and safari park (Beekse Bergen).
It has a reputation for being a province with friendly people who know how to enjoy the Burgundian way of life. The most important event of the year is carnival.
The province’s culinary speciality comes from Den Bosch, here they make a pastry with chocolate and whipped cream inside, called a Bossche Bol.
