Lefkada is the fourth largest island of the Ionian Islands. It is a very green and mountainous (most mountainous island in the Ionian Islands). Along the coast there are beautiful white sandy beaches, often with white steep cliffs. The east coast is more forested, with small bays with crystal clear (turquoise) blue seawater. In the northwest of Lefkas are sandbanks and headlands. One such long headlands connects the island by a boat bridge with the mainland Greek coast.
Through this spit of land a few kilometres you reach the capital of Lefkada. The city was hit very hard in 1948 and 1953 by earthquakes, but has still some historical buildings. However, a lot of church towers replaced by iron clocktowers.

- Nidri: most tourist resort with a seafront promenade. Nearby from Rachi is a walk to the Dimosariskloof with a beautiful waterfall.
- Karia: mountain village known for its traditional embroidery art that is sold in different shops.
- Porto Katsiki: a beautiful beach (accessible by stairs) with steep cliffs.
- Sivota: nice fishing village with several seafood restaurants.
- Vasilki: tourist resort very popular with (kite) surfers.
