Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese and the fifth largest island of Greece. The island is mountainous and coastal features beautiful sandy and pebble beaches and beautiful bays.
Rhodes town is probably the biggest tourist attraction of the island. The old town of Rhodes is enclosed by medieval city walls (about 5 km long). In some places you can take a walk on this impressive city walls with stunning views over the city, but also a walk outside along the city walls is definitely worth it.
Through beautiful gates (7 ports total) you can enter the city. Within these walls are the Knights Street (harboring the knights), the Palace of the Grand Masters, the archaeological museum and several cozy little shopping streets.
In the new town (outside the city walls) include the Mosque of Murad Reis, the Nea Agora (New Market) with Moorish domes and the Mandraki harbor with two images of deer (a doe and a buck ) on pillars at the entrance of the Mandraki harbor.

Other attractions in Rhodes are, inter alia :
- Butterfly Valley / Petaloudes: a narrow valley through which a stream flows, spanned by wooden bridges. In the period June till August swarms of butterflies are here (Panaxia Quadri punctaria). These butterflies are attracted to the resin of the thorax - trees, a vanilla- scented gum secrete.
- Kamiros: one of the best preserved ancient Greek cities (about 142 BC).
- Lindos: a nice town with ornate white houses and narrow streets. Above the old city is the Acropolis.
- On the road from Faliraki to Lindos: the Tsambika monastery. From the parking the last part must be traveled on foot via a path that is steep at times by more than a hundred steps. The walking tour takes 15 to 20 minutes and efforts amazing views around the monastery. The Byzantine monastery was a place of pilgrimage for childless women. They came to pray here in the hope that the legend of an infertile couple who, after a visit to the monastery had a child, including their applicable.
- The places Ialyssos (Trianda), Ixia and Faliraki are the main beachresorts with various hotels, restaurants etc.
