The main attractions of Lakonia include:
- Mani: a region with its own character. The Mani is composed of two parts : Exo Mani (Outer Mani) and Mesa Mani (Inner Mani). Many people find Inner Mani the real Mani. Besides the intriguing landscape are the many medieval Byzantine churches and the sturdy towers the main attractions of this region. At the village of Pyrgos Dirou are limestone caves that can be visited with a guide on a boat trip through the tunnels.
- Mistras: an important historical Byzantine ruin situated on a steep hillside of Mount Taygetos. With the restored churches and monasteries, palaces, ruins, rundown houses, gates and alleys it seems like a big open-air museum.
- Geraki: Another ruin town.
- Gythio: nice harbor town.
- Monemvasia: literally means "single entrance". The arrival somewhat confusing. From the shore leads a dam (used to be a bridge) to a huge rock. Monemvasia has turned namely located at the back of the rock. The village is completely car-free. The total walled downtown is unlike Mistras partly inhabited again. The upper town is situated on a plateau and is reached via a footpath with several hairpin bends from downtown. At the upper town only Agia Sofíakerk is preserved, for the rest there are only ruins. However, the view of downtown is great .
