Karpathos is despite the long narrow shape still the second largest island of the Dodecanese.
The capital Pigadia has a nice harbour and a promenade with many restaurants and cafes.
The south of Karpathos is relatively flat, the rest of the island is mountainous. The highest mountain on the island is Kali Limni
(1,215 meters).
The most traditional village Olympos is a mix of medieval and modern buildings, old windmills and a maze of narrow streets. Old women sometimes are still around in traditional costume.
Furthermore Karpathos has several beautiful beaches.
