Tinos is also called the Greek "Lourdes". In 1822 the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary was found on the island. In the Kechrovouniou Monastery (11th century) lived the holy nun Pelagia. After a dream she pointed the spot where the holy icon was buried. The St. Mary's Church in Tinos town is built in 1823 (where the icon was found) of white marble. This impressive church attracts annually on March 25 and August 15, many pilgrims from the port via the road up (usually creeping) to go to the church to worship the icon.
Outside these days it can also happen that believers crawling up on hands and knees on a specially constructed path along the way. The last part of this path leads even on a mosaic of pebbles! The story goes that once a woman has accomplished to ask for a sick family member and her prayer and penance were rewarded. With this story in mind today many people made this trip for a sick family member. In the chapel where the icon was excavated is also "the source that gives life." The story is that the water from that source has a healing effect and is therefore reflected by many people in small bottles.

The pigeon houses date from the time of the Venetians who have entered. On the slopes near the village Tarapados seems the construction of the dovecotes has centered here. The most unusual ones (including a double copy) can be found around the village.

- Panormos: nice harbour/fishing town.
- Pyrgos: modern marble museum. Many houses on Tinos feature beautifully crafted marble ornaments above doors or windows.
- Xombourgo: in the middle of the island crosses the 640 meter high rock outcropping above the landscape. Around 1000 BC. was this rock the foundation of the capital of the island. Later, in the Middle Ages, the Venetians built on the remains a castle.
- Volax: separate natural phenomenon. The area surrounding the village is dotted with nearly perfectly rounded boulders.
- Between Steni and Dio Chora: the Kechrovouniou Monastery from the 11th century.
- Dio Chora: traditional village with several springs which are used for the wash.
